Once upon a time, in a far away swamp, there lived an ogre named Shrek.  One day Shrek finds his swamp invaded by banished fairytale misfits who have been cast off by Lord Farquaad, a tiny terror with big ambitions. When Shrek sets off with a wisecracking donkey to confront Farquaad, he's handed a task - if he rescues feisty princess Fiona, his swamp will be righted.  Shrek tries to win Fiona’s love and vanquish Lord Farquaad but a fairytale wouldn't be complete without a few twists and turns along the way.

From audition to performance, campers do it all in just 10 days giving them a sense of ownership and pride in their collaborative effort! Students are divided into smaller groups based on age and experience level into classes and rehearsals for acting, dancing, and singing!.And now our high school tech camp will serve as the designers and techies for the show!

Casting

On the first day of camp, we will break the ice with interactive theatre games that help us get to know each other. After some fun, we'll engage in acting and music workshops. Among other things, we'll work on the following sides (excerpts) from the show. Casting is based on performance of the following pieces and other skills displayed during the acting and music workshops. Actors will perform the following pieces in an informal setting on the first day of camp. We will provide the accompaniment. Actors do not need to be offbook (know the lyrics by heart) but they should be very familiar with their selections. The sheet music, accompaniment and vocal tracks are in Dropbox. You do not have to have an account to access the files. Please contact the director, Danielle Wright, with any questions - This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

Please prepare Big Bright Beautiful World (measures 1-49) (Girls sing Fiona's part and Boys sing Shrek and Storytellers. Everyone read the storyteller dialog in the beginning as one long line)    AND one other piece.

GIRLS - for your second piece, please choose one of the following:

I Know It's Today (measures 48-70)

I Think I Got You Beat (measures 1-31)
